Tragic Road Accident in Chakwal: Ambulance Collides with Truck, Several Injured

A tragic road accident occurred in Chakwal on Tuesday morning when an ambulance collided with a heavy truck on the main Talagang Road. The incident left multiple people injured and caused panic among the local community.

According to eyewitnesses, the ambulance was en route to the District Headquarters Hospital carrying a patient in critical condition when the collision took place. The truck was reportedly speeding from the opposite direction and tried to overtake another vehicle, which led to the unfortunate crash.

The accident occurred around 9:30 AM near the Bhoun area, a few kilometers from Chakwal city. Residents nearby heard a loud bang and rushed to the scene, where they found the ambulance badly damaged from the front, while the truck had swerved off the road due to the impact.

Muhammad Iqbal, a shopkeeper near the site, told the media,

“The ambulance was moving with sirens on, and it appeared the truck driver misjudged the distance. Within seconds, there was a loud crash. Panic broke out as the crowd shouted and smoke began rising from the vehicle’s engine.”

Another local, Ali Raza, who helped in the rescue, said,

“It was heartbreaking to see a patient who was already in pain getting injured even more due to the crash. Authorities must control overspeeding trucks in this area.”

Police Statement

The Chakwal police stated that early investigations suggest the truck driver was driving carelessly, which led to the accident. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and the driver has been taken into custody for further investigation.

Sub-Inspector Ghulam Rasool stated:

“The crash appears to have resulted from high-speed driving and dangerous overtaking maneuvers. Authorities have assured that legal action will be taken against those found responsible.”
