Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Meet Tomorrow for Zilhajj Moon Sighting

ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow (Tuesday) in Islamabad to observe the Zilhajj moon and decide the date for Eidul Adha 1446 Hijri.

The meeting will be led by Committee Chairman Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad. At the same time, zonal committees will also hold their own sessions at regional headquarters across the country to assist in the moon sighting process.

Zilhajj is the Islamic month during which millions of Muslims from around the world gather in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

Eidul Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is observed on the 10th of Zilhajj. This year, Eid is expected to fall on Saturday, June 7, depending on the moon sighting.

The occasion honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah. Muslims around the world mark this day by sacrificing animals, and the meat is distributed among family, friends, and the needy.

The ritual of Qurbani (animal sacrifice) continues for three days during Eid, reflecting the spirit of sharing, compassion, and devotion.
