Pakistan Railways to Run 5 Eid Special Trains from Major Cities

LAHORE: To manage the increased passenger flow during Eid ul Adha, Pakistan Railways has announced five special Eid trains from key cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Rawalpindi.

The decision was taken by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a press release issued on Monday.

Schedule of Eid Special Trains:

  • June 2: The first special train will depart from Karachi Cantt at 1:00 PM and arrive in Lahore the next day at 10:00 AM.
  • June 3: The second train will leave Quetta at 10:00 AM for Peshawar Cantt, reaching on June 4 at 10:30 PM.
  • June 3: The third train will depart from Lahore at 5:00 PM, arriving at Karachi Cantt the next day at 2:00 PM.
  • June 3: The fourth train will leave Karachi Cantt at 7:30 PM, reaching Rawalpindi at 1:15 AM on the third day.
  • June 4: The fifth train will also depart from Karachi Cantt and reach Lahore the next day at 5:30 PM.

Eid al-Adha is expected to be celebrated on June 7, subject to moon sighting. According to SUPARCO, the first of Zil Hajj is likely to fall on May 29, with the moon expected to be born on May 27, but the chances of visibility that evening are low.

Eid al-Adha is one of the two main Islamic festivals and usually lasts for three days, marked by prayers, sacrifices, and gatherings across the country.
