Barrister Gohar Hopes for Imran Khan’s Release Before Eidul Adha
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has expressed hope that the party’s founder, Imran Khan, may be released from jail before Eidul Adha.
While speaking to media in Islamabad on Monday, Barrister Gohar said, “We are making all possible efforts, and we are hopeful that Allah will make a way.”
He highlighted the frustration and concerns of PTI workers over the continued imprisonment of their leader. “It’s hard to understand why Imran Khan has been behind bars for the past two years,” he said.
Gohar assured party supporters that PTI is using all legal and constitutional means for Imran Khan’s release. “We have staged sit-ins, organized protests, and raised our voice in the assemblies,” he added.
He acknowledged that PTI members and supporters have been facing tough times for the last two years. “Our people are tired, but we are standing strong,” he said.
Barrister Gohar expressed hope that Imran Khan’s legal cases would be heard soon and decided on merit. “I believe his case will be scheduled before Eid, and he will be released before Eidul Adha,” he stated.
Imran Khan Refuses Polygraph Test in May 9 Cases
On May 20, reports surfaced that Imran Khan refused to undergo a polygraph (lie detector) test in connection with the May 9 riots cases.
According to sources, a police team from Lahore, led by DSP Asif Javed and accompanied by officials from the Punjab Forensic Unit, visited Adiala Jail to conduct the test. The team included Inspectors Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Alam, Muhammad Arham, and forensic expert Abid Ayub.
However, jail authorities confirmed that Imran Khan declined to come out of his cell for the test, citing that his legal team was not present during the process.
